For us in the UK – the sun has appeared after months of rain…. maybe SUMMER is finally here!? For the first time this year I have had to find my strappy shoes and leave the coat at home. A wonderful feeling! As we come to the end of June we are ready for a break and some time to reflect and reset for a busy September and the rest of this year. So Helen and I will be taking a rest, refresh and refocus time over July and August. We will have an administration/office day every Tuesday during July and August to answer emails, plan events and prepare for speaking but the rest of the week during these months we are trying to take time to connect with people, find time to encounter Jesus in a fresh way, and plan for the next season ahead. We will not write a Heartcry News in August…so please enjoy this one and take note of all the news and calendar details!! Have a HAPPY SUMMER!!
However, before the summer, we have our elections here in the UK on 4th July and I know many nations are processing their elections too – either just passed or soon to come. As I have been asking for wisdom about how to pray, I felt God say our position and heart condition when we pray is so important. God challenged me and asked me: Why are so many leaders and believers leading prayer from a place of rage rather than peace? Many analysts are calling 2024 the YEAR of GOVERNMENTS. This year there are a huge number of national elections being held…16 nations in Africa, at least 6 in Asia/SE Asia including Bangladesh, Pakistan, India Taiwan, Indonesia; Iran; at least 13 in Europe including UK, Russia, Austria, France and also USA. According to Bloomberg calculations, the total number of voters who will go to the polls in 2024 represent 41% of the world’s population and 42% of the global GDP. This is a year for national governments all over the globe to be established. But we need to understand that politics and GOVERNMENT are two different things. The political spirit is usually ungodly, but government is ordained by God. In Psalm 2 we read this scripture:
Psalm 2
1 Why do the nations conspire and the peoples plot in vain?
2 The kings of the earth rise up and the rulers band together
against the Lord and against his anointed, saying,
3 “Let us break their chains and throw off their shackles.”
4 The One enthroned in heaven laughs;
the Lord scoffs at them.
5 He rebukes them in his anger
and terrifies them in his wrath, saying,
6 “I have installed my king
on Zion, my holy mountain.”
7 I will proclaim the Lord’s decree:
He said to me, “You are my son;
today I have become your father.
8 Ask me, and I will make the nations your inheritance,
the ends of the earth your possession.
Here we see the nations are in a reactionary position, leaders and people are raging. They are reacting to the injustice, conspiracy theories, and other chaotic scenarios – people are raging. But God SITS – rules and speaks! Then He directs us to ASK FOR THE NATIONS. If we want to speak to nations we need to learn to speak from a place in the heavens with a Godly perspective – not the raging fuelled by so much injustice and chaos. Then we can ASK FOR NATIONS and see righteous government. Psalm 2 teaches us it is dangerous to function and pray from a place of raging or reacting when praying for governments.
June was a month of travel in the UK and Europe. Helen and I started the month in Northern Ireland in Portadown praying for land, speaking at a Girls retreat, preaching in the Sunday services. It was so good to hear a testimony on the Sunday morning of a woman who had been healed of chronic pain in her back when she came to pray for the building project and land the evening before! Gordon and I visited Bari, Italy, and again prayed in two properties just purchased by the church, one for their community outreach and the other for their Sunday home. We had four wonderful days connecting with leaders, teaching on prayer and prophecy, teaching in the Sunday services and spending time talking and sharing with the local leadership team. Again we had another testimony in the Sunday service of a newly married girl whose back pain was healed while in the leaders’ gathering. She was able to do squats and various other amazing bends and flexes without pain when previously she was in agony – even sitting in a chair! Helen and I then travelled to Scotland for a leaders’ day with 35 people. This was such a special time of encounter. From the moment we started to worship, God was so present. There were many tears, lots of prophetic encouragement and a time of real connection. On Father’s Day I had the privilege of speaking at our Oxford church about our wonderful Father, “The God who ‘gets’ me”. It was a profound day and many were touched by the Father’s love and several gave their lives to Jesus. We end this month of June with Rachel in London speaking at the Sisterhood One day and then at Epping Forrest Community Church and Helen in Sheffield speaking at the Bible School and then their Sunday services. In the week we continue to meet with leaders, pray with those needing help and counsel and plan for the next events and projects. Life is full!
