Back to Moldova Projects

Our partners in Moldova, Charlotte & Johannes, have sent us this update…please do pray for their ongoing work and for the exciting training opportunities as well as their ongoing ministry in Ukraine.
Here is the letter from Charlotte & Johannes:

Dear Heartcry for Change,

Once again we look back at the last months with thankfulness and also staying in prayer for what lies ahead. We know you too are on the walls praying and interceding for next year and for the shift we have seen in the last months. In Moldova we have built on the vision to train and equip the next generation of pastors. We have had one more very fruitful meeting with a very important partner representing OPEN UNIVERSITY. They will provide theological training to our students. They are able to give Bachelor or Candidates degrees or also provide a more bible school like degree. This is a new level of training and we believe that this is one of our key focuses in Moldova in the next season: to help and facilitate better training for all in ministry .

We have also very slowly been looking at the possibility to open up a home for young boys. Together with our church in Falesti and also other partners we are looking into logistics and also staff and practices to make this a reality. Please pray for this.

Johannes and I have both come back from trips into Ukraine. I went with the same group as last time, supporting and consulting for churches, reaching out to the teens and kids in the war torn area. It was again a very moving and fruitful trip. We visited and stayed with people who have left their homes and towns to move out to places where there is NO ministry to youth or kids…I was able to consult about the programmes and goals for these places in order to make them able to give well balanced holistic approach to a young person who has been affected and even displaced because of war. I also helped them to write a grant application to the Danish Church AID to help these clubs get better through the winter. I also visited a centre with a remarkable football programme with over 300 kids attending. This Christian football initiative is called Penial (the place Jacob fought and saw God face to face). They even started a “Church” for the boys and girls to attend. This is all done while war is raging all around them. This was really inspiring and we will reach out to Danish football clubs to come alongside them. Please pray for the right connections.

Johannes is also visiting churches in the eastern part of Ukraine and they are very grateful for these visits. We have a good contact with a Mennonite mission who provide a lot of AID. This mission had faith to make 200,000 boxes, but have now made more than a million! God’s kingdom is unstoppable. I am in dialogue (with ministries which) have now expanded their ministry to seriously reach out to POWs and veterans…It is crucial for the churches to be equipped to help the many, many young men and families traumatized by this war. We have a vision that many such veteran hubs will be established all over and become key actors in the rehabilitation of a people and a land. I am now in the process of writing one larger grant to the Danish ministry of foreign affairs together with our Ukraine partners. Please pray for this project.

The next week and month we are busy in national and local work. Charlotte is taking part in different summits to train a new generation of Christian social workers and foster parents. We also have many church events in connection with Christmas celebrations. One is our popular Christmas Charity Bazaar which attracts a lot of people with a big raffle and a lot of fun. We have seen a new wave of young teens come to church and we see how they give their lives to Christ. God is on the move.

We are blessed and thankful for all. We praise God’s provision, His faithfulness and for the possibility to live for Him in these times.
We send you love and hugs and hope to welcome you here in spring.
Charlotte and Johanne
