Back to Moldova Projects

Our partners in Moldova, Charlotte & Johannes, have sent us this update…please do pray for their ongoing work and for the exciting opportunities ahead.

We are doing well and are currently finishing a major effort to provide immediate support to the poorest and most abandoned people in Moldova. Over the past few years, we have seen some economic growth, and it has been encouraging to watch Moldova slowly rebuilding. However, the villages remain very poor, and there is still a great deal of hardship.

Our truck has been traveling regularly, delivering tons of relief in the form of coal and food parcels. In every place they go, the teams pray with people and share the Gospel. We have received reports that they have been able to pray with more people for salvation than ever before. We truly believe that God is awakening people spiritually in this very religious region. It has also been encouraging to see families who have received help for many years now able to turn their lives around.

The internship for pastors has really launched and we now have more than 30 young leaders who have signed up for the training. We are very excited and believe that God is doing something lasting for our Union of Churches, helping us to grow healthy, sound, and attractive churches.

We are also actively looking for land. This is a huge step for us and very, very exciting. At the moment, we are in dialogue with a village that has a large but very run-down campsite that will soon be put up for sale. Some people have already begun to donate toward this vision, and right now we especially need prayer for God to guide us and help us make the right offer. We truly believe in building the Kingdom with the next generation in mind.

Johannes has just returned from a very cold and icy expedition to Ukraine. The situation there is grim, and people are extremely tired. He brought support for the winter period and again shared many testimonies of God’s grace, even in the hardship and brutality of war. Today he is traveling to a village to help a young person who ran away from a program in Chișinău, was imprisoned in a house, but has now escaped and called for help. We thank God for every life we are able to touch with His love and care.

In Feburary we will travel to the Cherkasy region where we again will be part of the Veteran Hub project doing workshops with specialist in trauma therapy and also how to interact the church into these hubs. We were to touched to be with so many of these dear but wounded soldiers last time and believe this is somthing God has put in place and that will spread all over Ukraine that God will reach out to the soldiers and their families.

We also have big news: we are moving out of the caravans and into the mission house. A few caravans will remain here, but others we hope to move to the future campsite as an initial step in setting up basic infrastructure, such as a kitchen, for the first years of tent camping. We feel it is important to downsize our own maintenance here at the camp and keep only what is necessary. During the winter, we still need to keep the house heated at a minimum, and this move feels like a more responsible use of funds. We have even installed a wood stove, and I am really looking forward to being able to host the entire leaders’ group or a whole youth group at once…. We also have several youth groups coming to do outreach, so we are expecting a very busy spring.

We send you many greetings and want to express our deep appreciation for your support and your prayers.

With love, gratitude, and blessings,
Charlotte and Johannes
