Back to Moldova Projects

Our partners in Moldova, Charlotte & Johannes, have sent us this update.  Having had a short summer break to visit their grandchildren in Denmark, they are about to return to Moldova for the busy summer kids and youth camps. Please do pray for their ongoing work and the summer youth outreach camps. If you would like to support Heartcry’s specific financial investment into this work, please use the links below to make a donation.  Thank you so much for your generosity!
Here is the letter from Charlotte & Johannes:

Dear Heartcry for Change,

Sending you our warmest greetings from a rainy day in Denmark where we have several speaking engagements and also juggling babysitting our grandchildren (number 5-6 are on their way) and tearing down our 30 year old kitchen and doing some remodelling in the house.

We are only back in Denmark for a very short visit as a busy schedule awaits us in Moldova. In mid-July a team from the US/Denmark/Africa will arrive to minister in the churches and also pray over the land. One of them is from Ethiopia, a prophet called Josephine, who has been praying for Moldova for more than 5 years. The team from Denmark will be looking for a possibility to start a young leadership pastors’ internship in Moldova, a model that has had huge success in Denmark.

We are very blessed with the network of church plants in Moldova and also connections to many churches. All our ministry is done through this network and we want to strengthen the local pastors and churches through all we do. This year one of our church plants celebrated 25 years. This was a great day of celebration with many testimonies of what God has done over the years.

The word “Renewal” was a main topic you brought to Moldova last time. We have been prepared that God would start doing things differently. Our experience is that change often can be unsettling and uncomfortable as God moves us on to something better or something else.

This year we have, after 22 years, not been able to rent the campsite from our regional council. This year they closed the doors for us to get the site for the month of August. This means that we have found some different solutions but are only able to hold two camps instead of 4. This is upsetting but we also are praying for God to give us new direction in this ministry. Sometimes change makes us move in a new direction.

The month of June also means graduation. We celebrated 3 of our young ladies from Girls’ Academy. We are very proud of all their achievements. Pray for them as they move on into more independent lives. Also that the right girls will come for the next season of our Academy starting in September.

Johannes has continued his trips into Ukraine, where the situation is grim. But as the battles continue so does the church. In the beginning of June he made one more trip into Kherson and witnessed both heavy shelling but also how the church is reaching out with comfort and help and support to many people. People are turning to Christ and the message of hope and salvation is being spread. A great testimony to the power of the Gospel.

We were also able to train our camp leaders, nearly 40 attended. We are so blessed for this team of volunteers giving their all to serve kids, teens and youth in the summer season. It is very important that we can equip them with knowledge, techniques and safeguarding measures, to secure the best atmosphere and environment when so many kids and volunteers spend time in our camps. To us it is also a great joy to see how a new generation of leaders is rising up through this ministry. A great team of Ukrainian and local tutors taught and gave their best to young future leaders. Heartcry covered their travel expenses.

Before the summer break we were able to mark one more year of mentoring and training young women in the villages. We have had 25 trainees this year and are excited that 22 finished the course. This is a special programme designed to give young women knowhow and life skills in how to navigate their choices and also boost their self-esteem and confidence. A young girl said the following: This course has changed my life because I have come to know Jesus as my saviour!

We hope you too have a summer break and we send you warm and loving greetings. I will be speaking at this year’s annual conference in Denmark and the word God has put on my heart is from 1 Tim 6:12-16: Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses. In the sight of God, who gives life to everything, and of Christ Jesus, who while testifying before Pontius Pilate made the good confession, I charge you to keep this command without spot or blame until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, which God will bring about in his own time—God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone is immortal and who lives in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or can see. To him be honour and might forever. Amen.

God bless,
Charlotte and Johanne
