Here is the letter from Charlotte & Johannes:
We want to send you very warm greetings. Heatwave after heatwave struck Moldova this summer and we were seldom less than 30 degrees. But the 1 of September is the first day of autumn here and we are going into a new season.
This next season we are emphasizing the need for raising up the new generation and seeing new leaders take over in different ministries. This summer we had a visit from one senior pastor and church planter from Denmark and another team with leaders of the International ACTS ACADEMY and Global University will visit in October to help a startup of what we call a pastoral internship for young future pastors. The first 8 couples have shown interest and we are excited be able to put the foundation of what, with God’s help, will build the future for Moldova’s churches. This vision to help raise up new leaders has been on our heart for a long time and we want to help pastors disciple the new generation of young pastors, both men and women. It is young couples like Anja and Roma from the Church in Riscani and Andre and Maria from a church plant in Briceni that will be trained through this new initiative.
In the Girls Academy we had 3 graduations this year and 2 new girls have arrived as the school term starts. We also have 2 young boys living in the mission now who we are helping with education. And Catja, one of our graduates, is also living in one of our caravans while adapting to living a more independent life. She graduated as a cook and has found a job in one of the local restaurants. “I did not know it took so much effort to earn my own money “, she told me the other day. Grown up life is a big revelation!
This fall we were able to give out clothes and school help to poor families in the villages. We also finished one more year of village outreach to young women. Every month we conduct workshops in two villages and 25 young women have attended. When we asked them at the end of this term what change they have seen in their lives, one young girls said: “ I have received Jesus as my saviour and it has changed my life completely.” Change is taking place one life at a time.
The camps were only two this year but very blessed. We were not given the campsite we have had access to for more than 20 years and had to find other solutions. So we were able to rent some sites in two different spots. This meant some work and a lot of logistics. We had some really special times with kids and teens and saw a new hunger for Jesus. Charlotte and some others in the team ministered in the prayer tent and we saw and prayed and ministered deliverance and healing to many young people .
We are also going back and forth to Denmark in between. Our 5th and 6th grandchildren are due this Christmas and we feel the need to be there for our own grownup children and their families at times.
We will also have a team from YWAM for a mission trip this winter. They will stay on the mission base and we look forward to get help with evangelism and outreach. It is a team from the DTS in Spain with a mixed team from US and Europe.
This fall we have a visit from Austria Life Church. It is three young ladies from the ATTRAKTIV conference. We look forward to welcome them here as they have helped and invested in our Girls Academy and other projects. Again we appreciate this to be one of Rachel’s connections now bearing fruit in Moldova.
